I hover over the chasm
I contemplate the fall
I see below me
An open space
I see nothing at all
(an emptiness threatening to consume me)
But I am flying, not falling
I can look ahead, not down
I learned to swim so I won’t drown
I stand firm, no need for crawling
I will grow wings to rise
To soar over a life I created
Separating the truth from the lies,
I will see how everything is related
And one day, I will behold death without fear.
How do people fall in love? I’m being serious here. I haven’t fallen for anyone in 2 years.
I cannot imagine feeling so strongly about another person and making myself so dependent on them. Maybe I’m emotionally deficient.
"You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."
